Connie Ralston

Connie Ralston has been a member of her local drumming community for 15 years, facilitating group participation for women’s, children’s, and community awareness programs. Her workshops have inspired diverse populations: children and the elderly, at-risk students, women in transition and recovery, and those on a personal spiritual quest. Connie has performed with Beleza for nine years.

Connie was a facilitating member of a woman’s weekly drum circle in Norfolk for seven years. She continues to both facilitate a monthly women’s drum circle and assist in the facilitation of a monthly family drum circle at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Peninsula. She has provided private lessons as well as group workshops at area schools, churches, agencies and businesses.

During her two-year service as a member of VISTA Americorps at LINK, Connie developed an outreach program for area elder care providers, using drums and rhythm instruments from around the world to create activities for the residents.  Currently under contract with the agency to continue this program, she has documented over 150 site visits, serving over 2,400 seniors.

Additionally, Connie has scheduled and arranged training sessions by professional drummers, networked with area drummers, and expanded her business to serve sites state-wide. Connie has continued to use world rhythms to teach unity through diversity, helping people to discover their abilities to communicate and express joy together.
